When one doesn't know where to put one's jewelery

This is a little project that I had in mind for ages and I finally came round to do it.
I had a very bare wall and loads of jewelery that was stashed away in boxes and thus completely forgotten. So I thought, if I am not wearing my necklaces and bracelets, at least it would make a nice piece on my wall :)
And here we go:

1. Get some cheap frames from IKEA, few of pieces of fabric, a hot glue-gun and loads of patience :)

2. Using a plastic cover from the frame, fold the fabric to the size of the frame and glue it in

3. Make as many frames as you like (I made 9, coincidently, that's how many different fabrics and frames I had)

4. I like to separate my projects into phases, so frames was phase 1, and for phase 2, you'll need some more tools, wires and Coiling Gizmo. With that make little hooks:

5. Using same colored wire attach hooks to the frames:

6. Put the frames on the wall and and hang your jewelery on the hooks. I suppose the best way to hang frames wood be nails, but since I have none, I used double sided sticky tape, so at night few frames fell off. I am getting some nails next week :) Overall, I am very happy with my wall and I think I will wear more jewelery, now that it is in front of my eyes.

No sun and bad lighting means pictures are not of the best quality, but hey, you get the gist ;)

Happy new year!!

Presents

So, what do you think of this years Christmas? :) Mine was nothing special. Spent some time on my own, had a wonderful dinner, unwrapped few presents.. um... no.. I actually didn't, because most important presents only came today by post :)

For me the most important part of Christmas is the 24th of December, The Christmas Eve. I spent it with my friends, it was a very good time. We played Monopoly, a game that I haven't touched for more than ages :) I finished second. Which is not bad, considering I had almost forgotten how to play :P

And that was probably the most exciting thing that happened during Christmas season. So now remembering my childhood Christmases and coming back to school after holidays, when all kids would brag what they've got for presents, I will list all my presents :D

I got.... 10 euro gift card to any Irish bookshop (very thoughtful present, for I love books and bookshops), pair of hand-knitted woolen socks (thanks grams, it was very cold in here. needed them terribly), whole dvd of pics from my best friends wedding, long awaited gift, a little set of skincare cosmetics, a mug, two big boxes of sweets (not very thoughtful as I am on a no sugar diet and even less thoughtful because those are my favorite sweets), a coupon of 15 euro for one of my chiropractor sessions, a very cute hand made brooch and a bookmark from my cousin and then some presets from me to myself: a pair of the most gorgeous earrings, I got them at crafts fair from an artist Liz Schwarz. The best present ever, needless to say :D, then I got loads of books on diet and aromatherapy and recipe books for home made creams and other skincare products. Quite exciting, since I wasn't expecting too many good stuff at all (well except the ones from myself :P )

Overall, good Christmas. Would have loved to have the whole house for myself a bit longer, but hey.. you can't have it all. 4 more days off work and laziness, what else could I ask for? :D:D

Blogging and me

I am bad at blogging. Strangely enough, I see it as a commitment that I feel I am forced into. As if it is not my own choice to have a blog in the first place. And then I ditch my blog, because my life is so boring even to myself, let alone some stranger who might have a glimpse here....

So why am I back? Because there were few things I wanted to let out into the space in hopes that someone might find it interesting. Because many things have changed since I've been here last. Because it is still cool to have a blog :D

Long Time No See

It has been a while since I wrote anything. That is probably because I came back to my country (which is Lithuania). It's been a whole month. I needed time to get used to living back here. I can not say that i am completely comfortable, but life does not stand in one place and I have to move on.

During this month I stopped my crafting, but I am about to start making something. Christmas is comming and I usually make presents myself. I also opened my Etsy shop, so don't be shy and pay a visit: www.6spots.etsy.com. Besides that, I started to go to gym - pilates rules :D Well, that is what I've done so far. The only thing I did not do is that I did not start to look for a job. And now it is going to be rather too difficult because of many paper works I have to do for my studies.

Anyways, so much for now...

I miss Ireland....

Pure Pleasure

On my latest night out I discovered my favorite coctail. And it's not because of the name :D

Pure Pleasure:

- 2 cl vodka
- 2 cl coconut rum (malibu)
- 1 cl lemon juice
- 1 cl cranberry juice

Shake ingredients with lots of ice cubes. Stir into a hurricane glass, and serve.
Serve in "Hurricane Glass "

ENJOY!!

I couldn't find a picture of this coctail, so i just posted something similar :P

Work in Progress

I am working now on necklase for my friend's sister. She is getting married and this is the very first very important order for me.

So far, I've done this much:

And yes, it is not the best picture in the world, because the thing itself is sparkling and white and by no means I should have taken the picture in the lamp light. Oh well.. I can't really make a photo shoot in my office at work during daytime...

Knitting

I have been very interested in knitting lateley. I have this thing - once summer reaches second half (or near end of it) I experience an unbeatable urge to knit. And so I do. Only this time I actually did something real (not only unwearable scarf). It is very good to have a little toddler for a niece :) So, I am knitting her a cardigan. It is not finished yet, so no pictures of it. Meanwhile, I discovered amazing Shetland lace knitting.

More to drool at here and author's blog is here.

Fancy a light read?

I do. A lot. My favourite writer for this type of books is Jill Mansell. I've read several of her books and some of them in one go. They are catchy, funny and even though there are many characters, there is no way you would get stuck with following plot lines (or rather, love lines). It's a perfect way to relax.

Currently I am reading this:

Here's a small extract from the book:

'This huge bloke jumped me as I was heading up my front path, tried to grab my bag. Your bag,' She added, patting the turquoise and apricot suede and velvet shoulder bag on her lap. 'Well, what a cheek, I wasn't going to let him take that, was I? So we had a little wrestle.'
'Are you mad?' Zac bellowed in disbelief. 'You're lucky he didn't have a knife!'
'I love my bag, he wasn't having it,' Janice repeated. 'So anyway, that was when he punched me in the face, expecting me to go down like a skittle. Except what with all the practice I've had, getting battered by men, I didn't. And that was when I whacked him with my bag.'
'That bag?' Nancy said doubtfully. Suede? Velvet? Lined with silk?
'Ah, but what he didn't know what was what I had in it.' Janice triumphantly recrossed her legs. 'Malcolm's always said I carry around everything bar kitchen sink. That’s why I like a bag that's nice and roomy.'
Zac said, 'What did you have in it?'
'Well, make-up case, obviously. Phone. Purse. Keys. Cigs, heavy lighter, A-Z - you know, all the usual stuff. Then, happily, I happened to have nicked a really big glass ashtray from the restaurant my agent had taken me to at lunchtime.'
 'That's a lot.' Zac nodded.
'Spare pair of shoes. Manolos, of course.'
  'Ouch,' said Zac.
'And an alarm clock and a jar of olives,' Janice said happily. 'Oh, and a travel iron.'
  ‘Jesus. So is he dead?’

Now THAT'S what I'd call a good bag.

I laughed so hard when i read this part yesterday. Thank god I was at home, not in public bus :)

Tofu

Recently I discovered that I really like tofu. It can be used basically everywhere - in desserts, stews, stir-fries, soups and so on, it is cheap and healthy. Thank God for World Wide Web, which means I'll have something interesting for my weekend dinner :)

Here are some recepes from my favorite recipe web-site:

1. Dill, lemon & tofu

2. Pumpkin, tofu & pea curry

3.  Marinated tofu & cashew stir-fry

4.  Tofu whip with kiwifruit & melon liqueur syrup

Enjoy!!

Organic Fanatic

Yesterday, while riding on the bus home, I saw very nice ad of Organic Fanatic juice drinks.

I didnt' find the ad on the web, but I liked the labels on bottles most.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Yesterday I had very inspirational mood so I made a mini card for my grandma for her birthday. And it certainly doesn't matter that her birthday is at the end of September :)

Yumm

I'd love to have that at this very moment.

It looks so refreshing...
Unfortunatelly I have only an apple. That will have to do.
